Fundraising Ideas for School Groups:

catching money

  • With continued state and school budget cuts, many groups are finding it more challenging to pay for a trip to Ebersole Environmental Center.  We are compiling a list of funding ideas to help groups and would love to hear from groups with other creative funding options!  Our Funding Idea list can be found here.

Ebersole Earns Grant:

medical cross

  • Ebersole Center recently received a grant from the Pennock Foundation for much needed medical supplies for the Ebersole clinic. Thanks to the generosity of the Pennock Foundation Board, on Friday, May 7, 2009, Ebersole Center was awarded a Life Pac 1000 AED. This defibrillator is top of the line and is a valuable asset to the health and safety of our visitors and staff.

THANK YOU to all who rallied for Ebersole Center during this budget crisis to make Environmental Education a priority for Lansing School District students.  While Ebersole is still operating, the board made it clear that they will revisit the Ebersole funding issue later this summer.  Please join our Facebook page to keep informed about further developments.
Ebersole Receives Environmental Award:

Ranger Randy with Turtles

  • Ebersole Center was awarded an Environmental Education Award from the Michigan Deputy Ranger Patrol (Laroehm's Rangers).  Ranger Randy Wilson nominated Ebersole for the award after learning about Ebersole's educational programs while he visiting the Center to release two rehabilitated painted turtles in June.  The turtles had both been hit by vehicles and had suffered non-life threatening shell injuries prior to being rehabilitated and released into Jackson Lake.

  • Thank you to Jacki Tennent from EHEIM, North America for the donation of two canister filters and associated hardware for our new Native Aquatic Species display.  The display supplements our Water Ecology and Pond Study courses by helping visitors see and understand examples of aquatic species that live in Jackson Lake prior to actually visiting the lake.
