Visiting Staff - Children's programs at Ebersole Center are organized as a partnership between Ebersole Staff and visiting adult staff.  This partnership is vital to ensure a link between learning back at school and learning at the Center.  Teachers who bring their students to the Center still lead classes; they just have more resources at their disposal, including a 158-acre natural site and classrooms with specialized equipment.  Parent volunteers or community members often agree to teach a class for a visiting group and share their expertise in an area of specialty.

Ebersole Center staff members work closely with visiting groups to provide a meaningful and lasting positive experience.  The center's professional staff offers full group support, in planning trips, preparing meals, staffing an office and clinic, and teaching specialized classes.  Visiting staff members also teach classes, directly supervise children, and work with students to leave the camp as clean and functional as they found it.

The Ebersole Center maintains a State of Michigan license issued by the Department of Consumer and Industry Services to run a children's "camp".  The professional staff of the center, as well as top-notch facilities and operating procedures, makes this possible.

The Center provides one naturalist/planning specialist for groups of up to 110 people, and two naturalists for larger groups.  This staff member meets with groups and helps plan a program that meets their needs.  The naturalist/planning specialist offers insight and experience gained from working with hundreds of groups and thousands of students.  This same planning specialist will work with the group when they arrive at the Ebersole Center and serve as a naturalist and consultant.  Our naturalists lead activities and field trips requiring special certification.  In addition to their outdoor skills and knowledge of nature, they are certified Michigan school bus drivers, American Red Cross Lifeguards, and trained in First Aid and CPR.

Special visiting staff training materials are available as part of the program planning packet.
